Vision Forward represents the important step TLC is taking to expand services for the very young and those entering their elder years.
Vision is a child’s window to the world. Children who have cognitive challenges along with blindness are deprived of critical sensory experiences that other children take for granted. Because these children cannot gather information in traditional ways, families are at a loss as to how to help them. They start behind and stay behind. They require special learning and unique tools to participate in life. Without early intervention they are ill-prepared to engage in the world around them.
On the other end of life, data confirms that older people in the multi-disabled and blind community age at a more rapid pace than typical adults. These individuals require and deserve our special attention to insure that appropriate care meets their growing needs.
Only a handful of facilities across the nation provide the kind of services and care found at TLC. We know that all we have learned is meant to be shared with the very youngest and oldest generations. That is why we know there is a need for a Vision Forward. It is our mission: Caring for the lifetime needs of the developmentally disabled and blind.
